As an entomologist at the University of Queensland, I have been studying glowworms since a 3rd year project in 1997 investigating how glowworms glow. I since completed an Honours project on the management of our local species, arochroca-pa flora, on the basis of biological and ecological data and then expanded to cover the distribution, taxonomy, systematics & genetic diversity of glowworms Australia wide in my PhD. Side projects have involved work in a biotech lab in USE using biolumin escent technology in cancer research, school education visits and more recently a stint as scientific advisor for two BB film crews. I now manage an artificially built glowworm cave (with real glowworms) as a tourist destination behind the Gold Coast.
