ABSTRACT

This paper is a multimedia presentation of ACKMA's involvement in the world's first International Cave Expo. It outlines the background to the ACKMA display in the International Cave Pavilion and to other input to the Expo. It also presents images of the ACKMA display and of other aspects of the Expo and of life during the Expo in Samcheok City and its surrounds.

Five ACKMA members attended the Expo - one as a major organiser (Professor Kyung Sik Woo), the others presenting ACKMA's display (Andy Spate, Andy Lawrence, Robyn McBeath and Lana Little). Very many other ACKMA members provided input to the displays. Chief amongst these were Peter Bell, Robyn McBeath, Steve Bourne and Jane Gough. Sponsorship and support were provided by Caveworks, the South Australian and New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Services, the Jenolan Caves Reserve Trust, Optimal Karst Management, most Australian show cave operations, some New Zealand operations and, lastly, but not least, the Samcheok City Council.
